Lamya Al-Haj

Assistant Professor, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman

Dr. Al Haj is an assistant professor at SQU with a Ph.D. in Structural & Molecular Biology from University College London (UCL) and an MSc in Environmental Science and Technology from UNSW (Australia) where she received the prestigious award “Boban Marcovic Prize in Environmental Science” in 2006. She is an award winning scientist with tens of awards in recognition of her contribution to science, including the “L’Oréal-UNESCO Award for Woman in Science- Middle East Fellowship” 2018.

​Apart from her passion for lecturing, she thoroughly enjoys public speaking and frequently represents the Sultanate at both national and international meetings. She had the privilege to present her research findings in many conferences around the world including the UK, Poland, France, Germany, Lebanon, South Africa, China, Singapore, Canada, and the USA. More recently, she has been invited to deliver several inspirational and motivational talks both locally and internationally targeted to the youth and woman. A topic and audience that are both very dear to her heart.
